Lettering a comic book page.

Letter first then do the art on complex pages. Then you can draw art that
works perfectly with the balloons.

 
CELL ONE. Below: The idea. Copy the Superman origin. How do we prepare the page to copy the layout and give
it that old time feel? Answer: Layout the words and sound effects first, then draw the artwork fit
the panels.
CELL TWO: Layout the entire page in the "old style". Doing the panels and the lettering first.
CELL THREE: Below: How the art looks. The lettering has been removed.
CELL FOUR: I show step one with the balloons. in place. Art is shown for scale.
CELL FIVE: The art is added. We can se how it looks with letters.
CELL SIX: The entire page is shown with the lettering. The art is created last.
CELL SIX: A rough is created around the lettering. Final art is created.

Study this lesson. You can layout complex pages and then build the artwork around the layout.
